I’d like to take just a second to talk about the Jennifer Lawrence, and various others, nude photo ordeal.
These women took naked pictures of themselves and in all honesty, does it truly make you think any less of them? Yes, they’re naked, so what? You see yourself naked every single day, so what makes this any different? Because they’re women and they’re famous? Who cares? Also, how many times have men sent women nude photos and society just laughs it off? Where the 101 male celebrity nudes? Double standards, ladies and gentlemen, do not create equality.
Instead of talking about how these women now have damaged their image or what have you, everyone should be talking about the fact that not only was this a hugely disrespectful and disgusting act, but that these women, the victims, are the ones being subjected to this mass scrutiny. What about the lowlife that violated the privacy of these women in such a distasteful manner?
Once again, women are the topic of discussion over their bodies as opposed to anything else. I can’t tell you how many tweets I’ve read from, yes, mostly men, congratulating the individual who released these photos and I’m disgusted. This isn’t something that should be congratulated, this is something that people should look at and should be ashamed of the misogynistic society in which we live in because regardless of how advanced we are in so many areas, we are so backwards in still so many cases, and in this case, the treatment of women in society. I’m saddened by this so, so tremendously.
Regardless of it all, I just want to say that I stand with these women in that, nothing from this occurrence is going to change my opinion of them. And I will stand by this statement that I’ve said several times before on this blog, to me, Jennifer Lawrence is still the best damn role model out there for young women today.
Have a great week everyone.
Happy Birthday, Sebastian Stan!
